Rehabilitated old buildings, Part 3

One of my favorite examples of urban renewal and making great use out of old buildings: the Distillery District in Toronto. Some great footage here of the old buildings put to modern uses.

  1. I like when people save the old buildings. There is one building in Scranton that I loved but over the years it wasn't being taken care of. Two men remodeled the house--restored the outside to it original state and started a restaurant. It was worth it because it is beautiful!

  2. It looks like a pretty trendy area of Toronto. Confirmed brilliantly by the guy riding the Segue in the last shot of the video. It looks similar to the Granville Island area in Vancouver.

  3. I thought exactly the same thing when I first saw the video - it reminded me of Granville Island. Do you know if the water taxi still runs between Granville Island and Stanley Park? That's what I wish someone would start up here in Tacoma - a water taxi. We have a park every bit as good as Stanley (Point Defiance Park) and we have a rejuvenated downtown, but no easy way to get between the two. A water taxi would be perfect.

  4. I love the renovating of old buildings. In Chattanooga, they have several buildings that they have renovated into restaurants and clothing shops. They've kept a lot of the original architecture too which is a nice touch I think.
